If you had a real Christmas Tree do not sent it to the landfill. Put it in your yard near the feeders for hiding cover from predators and thermal cover during snow and cold weather, or put on your brush pile. I got one that had been discarded and it makes a great difference to the birds at the feeders and even secretive birds like the Eastern Towhee shows up more readily. They also provide good fish cover in lakes and ponds. Some State Game and Fish Agencies collect Christmas Trees to put out for fish.
