Dear Carolina Birders, Since 1868, hunting on Sundays has been prohibited by State law. However, in 2015, the Outdoor Heritage Act of 2015 <https://urldefense.com/v3/__https://www.ncleg.net/Sessions/2015/Bills/House/HTML/H640v6.html__;!!OToaGQ!9loAaCdBxXCOa_0p7aJvdFef-UY73K0j9yh3j07f6cmLpbrKI-dconTmb9TSAOe0wMU$ > was passed, removing the absolute prohibition on hunting with firearms on Sunday in North Carolina.The NC Wildlife Resources Commission was granted authority to implement new options for hunting on Sundays on public lands. The Commission has been working thru a public process to determine how Sunday hunting might be allowed on game lands.As a result of that process, 55 of North Carolina’s 92 game lands are proposed to allow Sunday hunting beginning in August 1, 2021. The last opportunity for public comment on Sunday hunting on game lands will CLOSE February 1, 2021. An on-line hearing will be held January 21, 2021.
