Subject: [southbaybirds] Shoreline at Mountain View Highlights 6 January
Hi Birders,
Today (January 6) at Shoreline at Mountain View Regional Wildlife Area I
had the following highlights:

The rarest sighting was 2 BARN SWALLOWS foraging over pond on golf course.
Swallows in January are always interesting.

3 male BLUE-WINGED TEALS in the extreme SE corner of A2W where the board
walks are adjacent to Stevens Creek Tidal Marsh. This is always a reliable
spot for this species.

1 RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKER in the willows in the high level ditch along the
maintenance road.

14+ SORAS in the (6) Coast Casey Forebay marsh and (8) Stevens Creek Tidal
Marsh. A few seen but mostly vocalizing.

2 VIRGINIA RAILS, 1 in Coast Casey and 1 in Stevens Creek Tidal Marsh. Both

Good Birding,

Ryan Phillips
