Subject: Red Slough Bird Survey - Jan. 5
It was mostly clear skies on the bird survey today. Started off cold and
calm with heavy frost, turning mild and windy in the afternoon. 74 species
were found. Highlights include 3 Blue-headed Vireos (two at one location
chasing each other), 2 King Rails, and a Common Goldeneye which are rare at
Red Slough with only about half a dozen records over the past 20 years. I
also found the Leucistic sapsucker again. Here is my list for today:
