Subject: [CT Birds] Suffield/Simsbury -- Golden-crowned Kinglets, Rusty Blackbirds
At Hilltop Farm in Suffield: Two Golden-crowned Kinglets (a female and a male), fascinating us with their foraging behavior. Both birds were foraging in two short hemlock trees within a couple feet of the ground and only about ten feet away from us. One of them actually hopped on the ground beneath the trees and jumped up repeatedly under the lowest branches to glean their needles.

At Rosedale Farm in Southwick: Six Rusty Blackbirds in the wet thickets at the east end of the field as you walk down the dirt road from the farm buildings. Listen for the single blackbird “chuck” note. Doug Beach found them an hour earlier in the same area.
