On 12/26, Vayun and I covered Coyote Creek at Hellyer Park, Cottonwood Lake and adjoining areas. It was beautiful day with very pleasant weather. No real rarities and no unusual geese at the lake, which in itself was rather unusual. Went back to the lake at the end of the day to double check, but no luck. The most interesting goose at the lake was the partially leucistic CANADA GOOSE. Only sapsuckers were two RED-BREASTED SAPSUCKERs. A perched imm. PEREGRINE FALCON presented great close looks. FOX SPARROWs are always good here. 4 flyby GREAT-TAILED GRACKLES were unusual here. 3 flyby WOOD DUCKs were probably from the group of 40 that Carlos found in the creek in the adjoining count region. RUBY-CROWNED KINGLETs were great companions throughout the day. Overall a great day to be outside - 57 species with 935 individuals. Some of Vayun's pictures are in the checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S78111884
