Subject: [CT Birds] 12/18/20 - Branford, Lake Saltonstall waterfowl numbers building, plus COMMON REDPOLLS
I did an ambitious cross country ski birding tour around Lake
Saltonstall trails this morning. The lake is still mostly ice free and
waterfowl numbers are building. There were at least 75 Hooded
Mergansers and the prize was a flock of Common Redpolls feeding in an
alder down by the boat dock area. EBird list below. (Parking lots and
roads are not plowed, so access is from the road, FYI).

at 400 Hosley down to the Lake and then along the lake shore to the
fishing docks. Then up the powerline back to the parking lot.
