Subject: [ia-bird] WHITE-WINGED CROSSBILL - Washington County
Hey all-

Christie Meader just posted a male White-winged Crossbill to the Iowa
Birding Facebook group from SW Washington County.

There have been reports of this species *farther south* of us already in
Missouri, as well. If you're not already aware, ALL the winter finches are
irrupting in the east and we should expect spillover. Both redpolls, both
crossbills (but more White-winged), and yes, BOTH EVENING AND PINE
GROSBEAK. Keep your eyes peeled and on your feeders, and ears open for all
these species' distinctive calls.
