A pre-Stop & Shop visit to Smith Rich yielded 4 TENNESSEE WARBLERS, 1 NASHVILLE WARBLER, and 1 yellow-crowned warbler. A late date for the leiothlypes, but with more breeding season outbreaks of spruce budworm up north, it is conceivable that budworm specialists will become more frequent not only as migrants, but as lingerers — and indeed, I have had occasional observations of Tennessee throughout October. A fun group of birds to see as migration winds down!
