Subject: [CT Birds] Cave Swallow setup
CTBirders,

Several days of SW-ish winds in November should distribute at least some, possibly many, Cave Swallows northeast of their breeding range (i.e. into the Great Lakes region). That is usually Step 1 of the recipe that brings them to CT. Step 2 is a switch to NW winds that push those birds to the coast.

There is no moderate-strong NW flow forecast for at least several days, but the wind has to flip eventually. If/when it does, we may see good numbers of Cave Swallows here.

Cave Swallows have become regular enough that “classic” conditions are not required for sightings, but a setup like this should increase chances significantly.
