Subject: [obol] Jefferson County birding yesterday (11/4)
Hi all,

To avoid hitting the refresh button on election results all day yesterday I
went out to Jefferson County for some birding. No major rarities but solid
birding all day under sunny skies and temps up to 70 degrees. Highlights:

The Cove Palisades SP- Crooked River Day Use Area

White-throated Sparrow- 1 foraging in parking area
Canyon Wren
Townsend's Solitaires- many singing

The Cove Palisades SP- Upper Deschutes Day Use Area

Varied Thrush calling
Redhead- 1
Ruddy Ducks
Pacific Wren- 1 in the brush behind the covered picnic area

Haystack Reservoir- West Shore Campground (the only area that is currently
open there)

Robins and Juncos having a major bath party at edge of lake
Common Loon- 1
Eared Grebes- 7-10

Peter Skene Ogden SP

Rock Wren- 1 on bridge
Lesser Goldfinch- 1-2 in brush by train bridge
Ferruginous Hawk- 1 soaring with a Red-tail

Madras Sewage Ponds (viewed from outside the fence)

Snow Goose- 1
Eurasian Wigeon- 1
Canvasback- 1
Ring-necked Ducks, Lesser Scaup, Green-winged Teal, Bufflehead, Am.
Wigeons, N Shovelers

Pelton Dam Overlook

Northern Pintails
Barrow's Goldeneyes
Gadwalls
Western Grebes

Last bird was a Golden Eagle soaring over Highway 26 when I was leaving
Pelton Dam.

Overall a great and distracting day with 58 Jefferson birds. All my
checklists are in eBird with a few photos.

Good birding!
