Amidst the other chatter that happened yesterday, I forgot to mention that I heard my first Varied Thrush of the fall and saw a Townsend's Warbler in the backyard in the morning.

I look for Short-eared Owls each fall at the McMinnville airport. I park at the Dayton well #3 along Airport Rd and watch at dusk. An effort a couple weeks ago yielded no owl.
Tonight I found a SHORT-EARED OWL at 5 PM. Also present were a couple N. Harriers, Kestrels, and a Red-tail. Small birds included Mourning Dove, Killdeer, W. Meadowlark, Am Pipits, and 2000 Starlings.
