Subject: [CT Birds] a few spots in Orange
11/2 Orange
I did a brief drive around through local spots here in Orange. Very windy
this morning.
First was Old Tavern Rd recreation fields-
Conservative estimate of 400 Canada Geese on the fields (2 with yellow neck
bands), estimated flock of about 250 American crows flew over, 4 Gadwall,
3 Hooded Mergansers, 11 mallards, 1 Great blue heron, 2 Blue jays, 2
Mourning doves.
Next stop was Crosby Pond - with 2 Northern Pintails, 2 Gadwall, 9 mallards
and a flock of about 25 starlings flew over.
Last stop was Indian Lake with 1 lonely Bufflehead on the lake, 8 Canada
geese with one with the black & white mottled neck, 1 downy, 1 Phoebe.
