Coastal. A polytypic group, our Interior subspecies is annectens which has
the very distinct white eye arcs and forehead. Our Coastal ssp is frontalis
which varies from a few blue forehead streaks (no eye arcs) to completely
black hood.

My individual had quite a prominent white eyebrow. Forehead streaking was
incredibly pale blue, skyish blue or aqua. He was the jay I saw the entire
walk as he bounced between the oaks across campus. He was noticeably
noisier than the other jays as he harassed the Cooper's Hawk. Finally got
decent pics when he landed in the Blue Jay-less Blue Jay oak."
