- Media: 2 Photos
- Comments: "These seven RBMEs had cinnamon-colored heads with spiky
crests, long and thin bright red bills, gray and white upperparts, and pale
gray underparts (palest on chest). I believe that many - if not all - were
immature males, because they had very dark grayish scapulars and I could
see that several had very dark crowns. This sighting likely represents the
highest RBME count ever in Union County, if not all of eastern Oregon. Two
long-distance photos."

Red-necked Grebe (Podiceps grisegena) (1)
- Reported Oct 30, 2020 13:10 by Kevin Spencer
- Lake of the Woods--Sunset Campground, Klamath, Oregon

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S75617581
- Comments: "Seen through scope. It was occasionally diving, but seen well
out towards middle of lake, although choppy, but in good light. Adult in
near basic plumage. As tall, or nearly as tall as Western or Clark's Grebe.
Large, very slightly downturned dull yellow bill. Bill appeared a
bit/slightly heavier than the other larger Western Grebe, also present on
Lake, but not in close proximity. Dark capped. Back a somewhat reddish
brown, and not black. Same for flanks. White cheeks. Neck a dingy to dirty
white, with some red feedback on turns and bounces from chop."

Long-billed Curlew (Numenius americanus) (3) CONFIRMED
- Reported Oct 30, 2020 12:51 by Russ Morgan

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S75621630
- Media: 6 Photos
- Comments: "Continuing. Photo’s. Eating shrimp on the receding tide. Most
catches were face-deep, but several times the entire head and neck was
under water/mud. Overall very efficient at catching shrimp. Upon each catch
there was a lot of positioning and repositioning the shrimp before they
were “tossed” into the curlews mouth (last two photo’s), which was really
just a quick downward thrusting of the head....a bit comical. Never really
thought how tricky it must be to get prey items from bill tip-to-mouth for
these long-billed waders."
