- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S75533818
- Media: 7 Photos
- Comments: "Kept lilting from bush in center of field (dry lake bed) by
drain holes. Must walk road and lake edge to north peninsula, and just
before the road goes left and uphill, park and walk SE to drain holes, and
the lone mega-bush is immediately north. No vocalizations nor tail bobbing.
Appeared to have yellowish color in lower belly, a horizontal line thru
eye, and fine specks on upper chest. Very good match with Merlin-App
picture of Immature Female. Streaky chest would rule out Say's Phoebe.

Addition - the approximate location of the bushes, and there is a
dip/trench on the east side of it, is either 44°26'02.3"N 121°54'17.7"W aka
44.433969, -121.904907 -or- 44°26'03.7"N 121°54'18.0"W
aka 44.434350, -121.905004. The VEFL lilted 25-100 feet away and back to
the bushes multiple times. It eventually flew off towards the NE corner of
the dry lake."

- Comments: "The tide was coming in and a lot of birds were in the air when
I walked from the parking lot down to the cove. 7 birds flew in and landed
on the upper beach. I got the scope on them and 6 were pipits. The other
bird was about the size of a golden-crowned sparrow and had a distinctive
face pattern with a dark frame around the auriculars, a thin dark cap and a
thin "moustache" stripe. There were 2 thin white wing bars, not much
pattern on the breast and a fairly stout light bill. I couldn't see much
color but I was looking almost into bright sun. I immediately recognized it
as a lapland longspur from past experience. I tried to walk closer for a
photo but an unleashed dog came around the corner and that was that."
