Subject: [MDBirding] Rocky Gorge rarities (PG County)
Sometimes it’s worth birding in the rain! 3 species flagged as rare at the
reservoir today: Black-and-white Warbler and Northern Parula, plus a flock
of 45 Pine Siskin feeding on grasses. Great, extended looks at all of
these, plus 2 Bald Eagles, a Merlin, at least 20 each of Golden-crowned and
Ruby-crowned Kinglet, 3 Red-breasted Nuthatches (2 at eye level), 3 Brown
Creepers (1 up close), a Brown Thrasher “smacking”, my first Hermit Thrush
of the season, and a surprise Savannah Sparrow. Wow! Full eBird list here
