- Checklist: https://ebird.org/checklist/S73505488
- Comments: "Details: This gray bird was perched high in the Russian
olive/weeping wiillow/ash(?) patch on the west side of the reservoir. I
thought it was a strange place for a Sage Thrasher to be perched. The
too-long tail and two wing bars eliminated the Townsend‘s Solitaire, a more
likely bird to be in that position. It had a streaked breast as would a
juvenile Mockingbird or fresh SATH. Several Scrub Jays were nearby to
compare the size and it was slightly smaller, but not 2 1/2" smaller. The
light angle did not reveal or preclude a white patch at the base of the
tail. Karen had seen the bird earlier and said it had white wing patches.
Jimi and I ducked into the trees for a closer look, but it flew before we
could get on it. . Had I seen it in flight with bright white wing patches,
I would be more certain of my call, but Karen had seen the white wing
patches clearly. If I didn’t live three hours away, I’d be there right now
looking to relocate it."
