Scott McNeeley has a gorgeous YELLOW-THROATED WARBLER visiting his backyard feeding station along the Willamette River in Springfield. Scott’s backyard is visible from Island Park. There is a canal / millrace running through the park. At the north end of the park there is a bridge over the canal. Along the south bank of the canal there is a Birding Trail with a sign at the trailhead. This is a very short trail that leads out to the mouth of the canal and the river. Scott’s backyard with many feeders can be seen from near the end of the trail. The bird has been frequenting various suet feeders in the yard. Ramiro Aragon and I also saw the bird in the trees above the trail this afternoon. Thanks to Scott and Mary for providing such a nice attraction to the local birds and any rarities that happen to pass through the neighborhood too!
