Now confirmed, the mega-rarity South Polar Skua appears to be the first
skua (as opposed to jaeger) for the northern Gulf, as there are none shown
on eBird for Mississippi, Texas, Louisiana, or any of Florida's Gulf of
Mexico counties north of Pinellas. That county has a seen-only South Polar
from a pelagic. The northernmost Florida county with a photographed South
Polar Skua in eBird is Collier, where one was on a beach in September 2017.
