Small raptor. Pale underneath at observed distance. Wings short, broad,
well- rounded at tips. Bulging secondary panel. Wings hunched forw ard at
shoulders making cup (from which I saw no head projecting}, leading edge of
wings drawn back in gentle bow (not straight outstretched and plank-like as
Cooper's Hawk). Sideview going away fully tucked gliding downward toward
where first seen. Showed conspicuous white undertail coverts.

First seen, hawk came up from some large coniferous/sfy=deciduous cover
vicinity Sagert St freeway overpass. It confronted some other
similar-sized bird in what seemed to be territorial defense. Good early
morning light from behind me evenly illuminating subject. About one block
away. Scope view."
