Subject: [NHBirds] more Red Crossbills at Pawtuckaway and a reptilian bonus
The Tower loop road on the western (Deerfield) side of Pawtuckaway State Park rewarded a sharp-eyed group with many excellent sightings but especially noteworthy was a point-blank view of a Louisiana Waterthrush followed soon thereafter by leisurely scope views of at least three Red Crossbills. The crossbills included an adult male, an adult female, and a streaked sub-adult male. The climax of this sighting was the copulation by the adults. Audio recordings hopefully will allow ID of which type these were. For the record the males were rather orange with a large bill size.

The reptilian bonus was a Blanding's Turtle in the beaver pond alongside the Boulder Trail.

Fun with birds... and beasts!
