Hi Angela, I have the same EXACT experience! I have a large brook and see or hear the Louisiana almost daily from first week in April until third week in August but confirming breeding has been difficult. I even staked out the probable nest location for hours a few days in succession to no avail but may have heard the young. A few days later I finally and randomly got an adult with one flegling away from that spot. Their nesting is very secretive. I believe I have only seen fledglings one other time in 20 years. Scarlet tanager is another breeding nemesis for me -sings from treetop daily though. Good luck and keep trying!

But only once in all that time have I been able to see Proof of Nesting - feeding a fledgling, sadly not during this Atlas. Maybe next year.... > Angela Dimmitt > New Milford > > > -----Original Message----- > From: Paul Desjardins via CTBirds <ctbirds...> > To: COA - Connecticut Ornithological Association <ctbirds...> > Sent: Mon, Jul 20, 2020 9:25 pm > Subject: Re: [CT Birds] Migration in July > > > > Paul Desjardins > <paul.desjardins2...> > Phone: (860) 623-3696 > > > Concerning migration in July and particularly concerning the waterthrushes I have seen Northern Waterthrush as early as July 11 in Enfield, Connecticut and Louisiana Waterthrush as early as July 7 at Wakulla Springs, Florida both areas where they do not breed. > > Paul Desjardins > Windsor Locks > > _______________________________________________ > This list is provided by the Connecticut Ornithological Association (COA) for the discussion of birds and birding in Connecticut. > For subscription information visit http://lists.ctbirding.org/mailman/listinfo/ctbirds_lists.ctbirding.org > _______________________________________________ > This list is provided by the Connecticut Ornithological Association (COA) for the discussion of birds and birding in Connecticut. > For subscription information visit http://lists.ctbirding.org/mailman/listinfo/ctbirds_lists.ctbirding.org
