Subject: [CT Birds] CACC
Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, 9:15am-11:05am, mid tide, 73F,
partly cloudy, partly sunny, breezy.
The Purple martin colony was active with 5 chick heads poking out of 2
gourds, Lots of adults bringing in insects.
The male osprey was on his perch, female on nest with chicks and 2 other
ospreys flew over. 3 juvenile Red winged blackbirds on marsh edge with
several Common grackles and Starlings foraging on marsh edge.

On the grounds and paths, American Robins, House wren singing, Ruby
throated Hummingbird visiting the trumpet vine, 2 House finches, 2
Cardinals . Water feature had Robins, Mourning doves and Grackles bathing
and drinking.
Two new residents in the water feature- 2 Goldfish.
On the path to sand bars, 4 Tree swallows, 1 Catbird, 4 Mockingbirds, 2
American Goldfinches, and 1 teeny rabbit.
Along the LIS shore and on sandbars, 3 Barn swallows, 9 Piping Plovers
including 1 on nest, 1 chick and a pair,
1 Yellow crowned night heron, 1 Snowy Egret, 1 Great Egret, 8 Great black
backed gulls, 4 D.C. Cormorants,
37 Semipalmated sandpipers, about 22 Least Terns and 1 Common Tern, 10
American Oystercatchers, Ring billed and herring gulls.
