Just had a fly by Dark-rumped Storm-Petrel species at Siltcoos Dunes overlook, likely either Ashy or Black. I initially saw it flying maybe 100 feet offshore, within the first couple of breakers. The calm conditions and flat glassy water made for relatively easy viewing of the bird. It was seen by John Sullivan and myself. No obvious pale carpal bar nor light rump. The wingbeats did not strike us as either deep or shallow, but it did have a consistent wingbeat. It stayed less than a foot above the water and landed several times before flying out of view to the north.
