- Comments: "Really surprised! Near the dam, we observed a male and female
swimming along the cliffs. Male had bright green head sheen due to great
lighting and very bold round cheek spot. Though I'm not sure how rare they
really are in Union Co summer since I did see the mother and ducklings on
Jubliee Lake a few years back. But down here at Thief Valley, definitely a
shocker. Very distance pics."

- Comments: "Heard the repetitive chebek coming from the pines and juniper
hillside to the south of Winlock Road, 0.9 miles east of Hwy 19. Fired up
the Merlin and IBird apps, and feel confident that the call note matched
the recordings. Unfortunately, despite looking for a half hour we never
were able to spot the bird, nor were we able to get a recording. This is
the same location where Noah Stryker found a Least Flycatcher in May 2019."

was not allowing
distant birds to be confirmed. This bird was heard on the north side of
the draw. I approached and recorded. Too distant for acceptable photo.
Viewed dark head with grayish back. Saw distinct white supercillium, but
lighting and distance did not allow for appreciated looks of this beauty.
Recorded song, with some wind. Other species in recording include: Spotted
Towhee, American Robin, and Western Meadowlark."
