- Comments: "Lifer. Continuing. Found~1/2 mile from parking spot near nice
dispersed campsite, 50 yds past where Indian Ford Creek crosses dirt road
on south side of creek. First heard chi-bek call, then saw flying among low
Ponderosa pine branches and perching. Called again, otherwise quiet.
Nondescript empid with small bill, white wing bars. Gray above, pale below.
To me, really only discernible by call and tiny bill. Did not notice or get
good looks at other field marks noted by Sibley app: plump body compared to
thin tail; medium-width bill. Upon closer inspection, hooked bill looks
mostly black, peaked head and longer primary projection than dusky. Does
not appear long-tailed compared to dusky. Good pics."

I finally got my first recording. In the first call directly after the
YEWA, you can see the "kink" at the beginning of the call confirming PSFL.
I personally believe the species is overidentified in the county because
even hearing it, the calls are too similar to identify without a
spectrogram."

- Comments: "(Rare) Known breeding location. Following Stefan's recent
sighting. Recording.

Two birds singing and calling prolifically in young dense aspen stand along
edge of meadow. Bright warm buffy thrushes with blurry brown chest
spotting. Complex descending fluted song, like russet-backed Swainson's in
reverse. Possibly a third when heard once when both males were singing and
another 'veer' call came out of the thicket. But they can be tricky
ventriloquists and didn't hear three twice.

Oregon bird for me, but a nice familiar sound from back in New Hampshire,
where a dozen veerys might be fluting through the oak, pine, and maple
woods at dusk. A little scarcer here..."

- Comments: "Lifer. Thank you, Stephan Schlick! Right in area of this pin
among Ponderosa pines and aspen. Singing, calling. Very distinctive song
similar in tone to Swainson’s but a higher pitched duplet followed by a
lower pitched one, without legato spiraling upward pitch. Thrush that I’d
have likely taken for a Swainson’s or hermit but for very pale white belly.
Light buff throat. Lightly spotted breast. Large dark black eyes. Lighter
bill than SWTH or HETH. Overall more reddish, less brown. Good pics. Maybe
audio. When photographing, bird was doing it’s call. Identical call
responding indicating a second bird. Saw two birds flying off together.
Will describe in more detail after studying pics."
