The best time to find the birds is in the morning generally before noon and probably even better before 10 AM. The most productive trail this year has been the trail that goes into the woods from the dam and goes along the small stream. This is referred as the South Canyon by the Iowa City Bird Club, but unfortunately, the city has recently been naming the trails. The dam area also can be quite good around 8:00 in the morning. I have include a map from the Iowa City Bird Club.

Is there any specific place in the park that's best for warblers? I was there last Saturday and only saw a few common yellowthroats out on the prairie trail.

It was another super day at Hickory Hill Park. At times the warblers came so fast and furious that is was not possible to even sight them all. The list below is preliminary and represents the contributions of the many birders who were at the park. I also have attached a picture of an "Orange" Tanager seen at the park.
