Jay and Larry:
There’s a pretty good size flock that seems to be lingering around Veterans Park. The other day they were in the grove of trees where the greenbelt connects with the park. Today they were in the trees where the greenbelt connects to Veterans Parkway. Noisy little blighters.

"Rare" in that in most years we don't have them lingering in lower elevations this long into May - thus, the conservative eBird filter to help ensure data quality.
We've also had Evening Grosbeaks (EVGRs) in our neighborhood over the last week, including one flyover flock of 25+, and of course others are seeing/hearing them in SW Idaho as well. I'm hoping these moderate #s are a sign that at least some of the EVGRs that irrupted last fall have survived and are making their way back to breeding areas.
- Comments: "They are not rare. We need to fix this data. Large finch shaped bird. Big finch bill. Dark head and neck. Yellow underneath and back. White patches on dark wings. Distinctive sharp chur-whistle call. Perched in top of cottonwoods"
