Feb 14-17 is the Great Backyard Bird Count https://nam03.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fgbbc.birdcount.org%2F&data=02%7C01%<7Carbird-l...>%7C58b5fb30801a4df127d908d7b0c8f940%7C79c742c4e61c4fa5be89a3cb566a80d1%7C0%7C0%7C637172249534655821&sdata=w6lJMy6S61f3uLFnFdC0Lg%2BO8ec7XKq5mASCJYyumRA%3D&reserved=0. The GBBC is global so you can participate from anywhere by watching birds for as little as 15 consecutive minutes.

A reminder to eBirders that I have tightened the filters for the GBBC period (Feb 12-21 covers the annual variation). This is to better catch and reduce the number of mistakes made by in the influx of novice community science participants, such as calling any wren by their house a House Wren. A few words about any flagged record is always a good idea. Report a dozen Fox Sparrows at Holla Bend NWR and I'll accept it without comment. Report a dozen at your feeder and you'll be hearing from me.
