This morning (Jan 14) while birding around campus, I saw a White-throated Sparrow and a Green-tailed Towhee. The White-throated Sparrow was seen on the south side of Chaparral Hall, and seemed to be foraging by itself, although there were a couple White-crowned and House Sparrows in the vicinity as well. This bird was first seen (this winter) Jan 5 and is a returning wintering bird first seen in December 2018. The Green-tailed Towhee was seen in the Water Conservation Demonstration Garden, and was somewhat cooperative, perching up in response to pishing and calling a few times. This is probably the same individual seen in the preserve area about 500 meters away on December 2 and 9, 2018. Tom BensonSan Bernardino, CA
