Subject: [CT Birds] Tufted Duck, Bridgeport
1/6 Bridgeport, Captain's Cove, 3:25pm - The female TUFTED DUCK continues among a large Scaup flock (320 Greater, 9+ Lesser) in the marina channel behind the Captain's Cove office. It took repeated scans with binocs and scope to find it. To distinguish it from female Scaup, look for the uniformly black back, the small but noticeable tuft on back of head, and the lack of white around the base of the bill.  Also present was a Black-crowned Night-Heron.
