Subject: [JERSEYBI] Results of the 42nd Sandy Hook CBC
Jerseybirds,

The 42nd annual Sandy Hook CBC tallied 101 species plus count-week Wild Turkey and No. Saw-whet Owl.

We had a rather windy day; that coupled with the continued loss of quality upland habitat due to super abundant deer kept landbird numbers low.

Highlights were the long-staying hen King Eider near the end of the Fisherman's trail at the hook, 2 Iceland Gulls, 50+ Razorbills (in Raritan Bay off Ideal Beach...surprising), Short-Eared Owl, Ash-throated Flycatcher near the observation deck at M-lot, Blue-headed Vireo (count first) at Spermaceti Cove, 5 Co. Ravens (new high count), & 2 Orange-crowned Warblers.

Good birding,
