This was a large, heavy-bodied, broad-winged jaeger with a short "hand". The flight style was a steady strong wing beat with limited shearwatering. The bird was seen a second time about ten minutes later chasing a Ring-billed Gull (that was smaller than this bird). During this second observation the bird gained altitude and worked to within a 1/2 mile of our location. Periodically the unique double underwing flash was seen several times. The bird was a very dark solid color overall, and had only a limited amount of upperwing flash.BLACK-LEGGED KITTIWAKE 3 (all 1st cycle)Ring-billed Gull 100Herring Gull 300Iceland Gull 3 (2 adult Kumlien's and 1st cycle Thayer's)Glaucous Gull 1 (1st cycle)Lesser Black-backed Gull 1 (adult)Great Black-backed Gull 4 (2 adult, 2nd c., 1st c.)Red-throated Loon 34Common Loon 92DC Cormorant 2Snow Bunting 32
