Subject: Eight Sparrow Species + Killer Kestrel Mystic+Malden Rivers

I birded today along parts of the Mystic and Malden Rivers, as well as
Gateway Park, Encore Casino, and finally, Torbert MacDonald Park in
Medford. (for the Grasshopper Sparrow found yesterday by Jonathan
Layman, and previously by Jason Forbes in a different location. (sliver
of grassy land between Encore Boston Casino and the train bridge in
Everett). I'm glad i went to the previous locale of the Grasshopper
Sparrow, for there I had an AMERICAN KESTREL swoop down right before my
eyes on a Song Sparrow and then eat it up on the train bridge. Also on
that grassy sliver were a Chipping Sparrow, Swamp Sparrow, and a
particularly bright Savannah Sparrow ! And if that wasn't enough, I
finished at Torbert MacDonald Park in Medford near dusk with the
GRASSHOPPER SPARROW continuing in the exact same spot as Jonathan had it
yesterday. A Field Sparrow was nearby, in a mixed sparrow flock:

Great Blue Heron 1
Mute Swan 33
Hooded Merganser 23  Malden River near Wellington Station
Red-breasted Merganser 3
Bufflehead 14
Common Goldeneye 1
Red-tailed Hawk 3   ncluding two soaring together
AMERICAN KESTREL 1 murderous adult male
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 1  Encore in evergreen near hot sparrow zone
HERMIT THRUSH 5   including three together Wellington Greenway
Field Sparrow 1
Savannah Sparrow 1
Chipping Sparrow 1
Swamp Sparrow 2  this and above two species at kestrel spot
FOX SPARROW 4   Gateway Park Everett down "trail'
White-throated Sparrow 15
Song Sparrow 30
Dark-eyed Junco 16
