Nothing earth shattering but it was a good day for some uncommon feathered friends in North Bend yesterday.
A Red shouldered hawk was doing a hilarious dance on a long power line in a breeze up Kentuck inlet. I've seen a Red shouldered hunting this same pasture 3-4 times now. Then when I got back to my office one of the overwintering Ospreys was preening up on it's pole next to the bay. This has got to be at least the 5th winter they've stayed so I think they're here to stay. And once I got parked I heard the whistle of my little Black Phoebe friend on the fence. This is at least the 3rd year I've had one frequent the yard this time of year.
So I'd say not bad day at all. I see grebes starting to show up. I'm waiting for this years Grebe fest at the end of Virginia street. Last year I had one day there was 4 varieties I cold see from the boardwalk.
