Get your Oar in the water!
Well, Boys and Girls, it is time to firm up both Lassen Christmas counts for 2019. Both Eagle Lake and Honey Lake have a moderate amount of water again this year and Eagle Lake has recently had high numbers of waterbirds - including both White-winged and Surf Scoters, Parasitic Jaeger, and Red-necked Grebe.  I am sure the CBCs will snag more goodies.
Best current thinking - these dates correspond with last year:
Eagle Lake CBC: Thursday, December 19, 2019
Honey Lake CBC: Friday, Decmber 20, 2019
Matt Forster will be organizing the Honey Lake CBC, and I will be once again doing the "cat herding" for the Eagle Lake count.

Here are a few considerations:
Eagle Lake:Same as last year, the count HQ will be transferred to Susanville where food, motels, and places to meet will be available. Suggestions and options for each will be forth-coming.
Honey Lake:Details will parallel previous years and Matt will email each of you directly to set up where and when to meet. Hopefully, at least some of you will participate in both the Eagle Lake and Honey Lake counts.
Please let us know if you will be making it for either or both counts or can further help with arrangements and details.
Best,Frank

NOTE: Bring your layers, it will likely be quite chilly!
