Subject: REMINDER - Crane Survey
Hello all,

The USFWS Division of Migratory Birds has once again asked PA to participate in the Fall Sandhill Crane Survey. Many of you participated in previous surveys, or have expressed interest in participating this year. Thanks for your help!!

This year the survey will be conducted during Oct 30 to Nov 6.
Counts are best conducted within 30 minutes after sunrise or 30 minutes before sunset. If dawn/dusk surveys are not possible, cranes can be tallied during the day as they forage in small groups.

Background info, protocol and data sheet are available on the PGC website (<>) under BIRDING AND BIRD CONSERVATION. Or directly through this link (hit Ctrl Click to follow it): (;data=02%7C01%<7Cliswilliam...>%7C67d7a73f9df44bfec46b08d756dd52e3%7C418e284101284dd59b6c47fc5a9a1bde%7C0%7C1%7C637073380897193617&sdata=Awb1XvnbUrZSo%2BetMPsoawfaqLgkmazyP6J6uwnwbFU%3D&reserved=0<;data=02%7C01%<7Cliswilliam...>%7C67d7a73f9df44bfec46b08d756dd52e3%7C418e284101284dd59b6c47fc5a9a1bde%7C0%7C1%7C637073380897193617&sdata=ODYzFyqt0rF0OUpzwEcWgSX9sRDFNHJvjesKfGyPpbs%3D&reserved=0<;data=02%7C01%<7Cliswilliam...>%7C67d7a73f9df44bfec46b08d756dd52e3%7C418e284101284dd59b6c47fc5a9a1bde%7C0%7C1%7C637073380897193617&sdata=Awb1XvnbUrZSo%2BetMPsoawfaqLgkmazyP6J6uwnwbFU%3D&reserved=0%3c;data=02%7C01%<7Cliswilliam...>%7C67d7a73f9df44bfec46b08d756dd52e3%7C418e284101284dd59b6c47fc5a9a1bde%7C0%7C1%7C637073380897193617&sdata=ODYzFyqt0rF0OUpzwEcWgSX9sRDFNHJvjesKfGyPpbs%3D&reserved=0>>)

There are multiple ways to report your crane observations. You can complete the online report via the web link below, or print survey sheets from the web page and mail to the address provided.

2018 Findings:

2018 was a low year for observations. 106 cranes were observed. Cranes were observed in six counties: CRAWFORD, LAWRENCE, BRADFORD, LACKAWANNA, WYOMING, SULLIVAN

Thanks to everyone who went the extra mile to complete this survey. I look forward to seeing your 2019 observations!
