*NOTE: Yesterday I asked OBOL members if they would prefer this list

necks seen on both, plus white chin and throat,"

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S60981432
- Media: 9 Photos, 1 Audio
- Comments: "First seen at 8:09. Was in and out of the yard constantly
between then and the time that I left. Pics and audio.

Tentatively submitting this as a pure COHU. Caleb Centanni and Courtney
Kelly Jett reported this bird singing a song similar to that of a Anna's
Hummingbird which leads several to believe that this is a COHUxANHU hybrid.
I am logging it as pure COHU because everything else about this bird was
spot on for COHU (see pics and audio). I feel like a COHUxANHU should show
as least one concrete hybrid-like characteristic, which this bird does not.
Bob Archer mentioned that first-year male COHUs sing a song similar to
ANHUs, but I could not find any recordings on Xeno Canto."

breast band, yellow bill and rusty brown
patch on cheek and crown with more noticable white above eyes. Light
streaking on mantle and white edges on folded wings. As I was walking up
the Summit Road near the top, I nearly walked right into these two birds as
they were crouched in the middle of the road. I stopped about thirty feet
away, and both eventually started feeding on the ground plants/seeds.
Slowly they walked up the road and I followed. Eventually both disappeared
in the dead grass on the road edge. Being so close, it was interesting to
see the differences in the two birds. One of the buntings had a grayish
patch partially covered by a wing, and this bird also had much more white
on the edges of the wing (coverts). The face pattern and amount of coloring
was also different."
