Subject: Birds in the rain
The rain that started this afternoon did not keep the birds from having
a good time splashing in the ground birdbath.  The highlights were a
lone Cedar Waxwing who, unfortunately, was run off by the squirrel with
the black walnut-stained mouth.   The other good bird was a lovely
Nashville Warbler.  Such a nice spot of color on a gray day.

A White-throated Sparrow and Song Sparrow were also bathing. They sure
look big next to the Chipping Sparrow.

Trying to get a better look at a little bird flitting around in the
crabapple I walked to the front door.  Yup, it was a Ruby Crowned
Kinglet.  Just then the Red-Shouldered Hawk came flying over the house
from behind.
