Observation start time: 09:00:00 Observation end time: 15:00:00 Total observation time: 6 hours
Official Counter: Alan Simon, John Mercer
Observers: Al Guarente, Bob Kelly, John Mercer
Visitors: The last group of 8 students plus their teacher from Radnor Middle School. Bill Kemmerer
Weather: Cloudy and cool, high temperature only reaching 64 f. Most of the day we had strong winds from the Northeast. Gradual clearing in the last hour.
Raptor Observations: Local Red-tail, Red-shoulder, Merlin, Bald Eagles, Cooper's Hawk and Turkey and Black Vultures. All but one of the Cooper's Hawks were migrating in a strange pattern, they started at one horizon, circled slowly, but always heading SW until the went over the other horizon. Twice in pairs and once solitary. Considering the weather, the students had a pretty good show.
Non-raptor Observations: 2 Common Raven 1 Great Egret
Predictions: Cloudy, Breezy and Cooler, high only 59F winds still strong from the NNE, with the chance of showers, some bringing heavy rainfall. Probably not the best of hawk watchiing days. ======================================================================== Report submitted by John Mercer (<mercer1135...>) Rose Tree Park information may be found at: www.rtphawkwatch.org
