- Comments: "Found by Dena T. and two other birders. Located just off the
parking lot, where the cement walk ends on the right, about 20' into the
pond. Rufous cap, strong supercilium, and full eye-ring. Legs were
green-yellow, depending on the light, size was larger than a Western,
smaller than a Dowitcher & not as plump as a Dunlin (but about that size).
Thought about Pectoral, but the chest was unstreaked, and a light buff
color. We did not see it fly or hear it vocalize. Will add photos."

- Comments: "Clearly an Empidonax flycatcher by size, shape and posture;
silent; olive-brown upperparts, no apparent eye ring; pale wing bars and
tertial edgings, but not striking; narrow bill with an entirely pale lower
mandible (as far as I could tell); whitish throat, darkish across the
breast, and paler belly, flanks and undertail. Overall more slender and
longer-tailed in appearance than Western Wood-Pewee with a sorter primary
extension, not as dark upper parts or breast (didn’t appear vested) and
paler undertail. Also gave a couple quick tail flicks. Hanging out in small
trees (willow and dogwood) adjacent to a now dry seasonally wet area. "

- Comments: "Continuing rarity photographed earlier in the day. Seen well
and Nolan took photos. Very similar plumage and structure to bird seen by
Courtney and I (Caleb) on South Coast this September. Small Oriole (all
yellow tail, icterid structure, bill both pointed and with some width at
base) with petite tail and bill proportions compared to Hooded, Bullock's,
Baltimore, and Scott's. Lemon yellow all across underside, showing some
slightly paler color in flanks, but nothing grayish on the underside as is
present in Bullock's and to some extent in Hooded. Life bird for Nolan!
Flew into small Hawethorne tree at corner, then to shore pine among houses
to the north, perching prominently at tops of trees. Then flew north out of
sight."
