Subject: [VA-bird] Great Falls NP Bird Walk 10/06/2019 (Fairfax County)
Following is the count from Sunday's weekly bird walk at Great Falls National Park, which was quite birdy. Thirteen lucky participants identified approximately 52 species. Highlights included an assortment of warblers and other migrants; a couple of cuckoos; first-of-season Winter Wren, Ruby-crowned Kinglet, and Yellow-bellied Sapsucker; hawks and eagles; even a Peregrine Falcon. And one possible domestic goose on the loose.
The walk meets in the main parking lot of Great Falls Park at 8:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings, rain or shine; it does not take place, though, during electrical storms, heavy snows, or when the trails are icy. All those with an interest in the natural world - beginning and experienced birders alike - please join us.
