- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S60326217

- Comments: "According to Sibley Birds West, "Shorter wings of Pacific
Golden-Plover project just beyond tail tip, showing three primary tips
beyond tertials; wings of American Golden-Plover [extend] well beyond,
showing four primaries" (pg. 120). A page titled "Golden plover photo ID
guide" on birdguides.com expands on this a little:

"In American Golden, the tertials are quite short, falling short of the
tail-tip, while the primary projection beyond both is quite long, with at
least four primary tips visible. The tertials in Pacific Golden Plover are
long, the same length as the tail-tip. As a result, the primary projection
beyond both is quite short, with only two or three primary tips visible."

Photographs 1 and 2 show a long primary projection of four primaries while
the tertials do not extend beyond the tail tip, which seems to cement this
as an American Golden-Plover as other viewers the last couple of days have
also reported. This bird also had a dusting of yellow around the crown and
white/yellow speckling on the back, with what looked like a bit more yellow
down the center as seen when it was fluffing itself up (photo 4). Thanks to
Philip Kline for re-finding the bird today a little further down the beach
on the rocks just before the Sea Scout Base (coordinates 45.598257,
-122.597333)."
