Observation start time: 06:30:00 Observation end time: 16:30:00 Total observation time: 10 hours
Official Counter: Anna Stunkel
Observers: Betsy Foster, Bob Rineer, Brian Taber, Chris Foster, Hal Wierenga, Harry Armistead, Joe Beatty, Lynn Davidson, Rose Leong, Wes Hetrick
Weather: Light winds were mainly from the southwest, with mostly clear skies and record high temperatures in the seventies soaring to high eighties. Ugh, can't wait for the next cold front!
Raptor Observations: Despite the heat, there was a fairly good flight for the conditions. Birds were passing low, and there was good diversity. On separate occasions, two Merlins zoomed very close to the platform!
Non-raptor Observations: Two Great Horned Owls were dueting behind the platform early this morning. Later in the afternoon, there was a sudden cacophony of crows presumably mobbing the owl(s) in the same general area. Two Belted Kingfishers were seen. ======================================================================== Report submitted by Brian Taber (<Taberzz...>) Kiptopeke Hawkwatch information may be found at: www.cvwo.org
