- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S60129412
- Comments: "(Rare): “Unreported”: ho calls of either juv. Goshawk or
typical Red-shouldered : we made recording of , appreciate input : we think
prob surely is juv goshawk, and there was another one along trail ~ 1-mile
from here on both hike in and hike out in same spot, so two separate birds
doing same vocals, makes sense could be 2 juv nestmates now still nearby
eachother but working their own areas. Lovely new learning experience,
hearing these birds many times and making recordings, and checking app
recordings, that calls of juv goshawk are so so similar to RSHA , I can’t
tell them apart yet except that perhaps pacing of RSHA is slightly faster? "

Lewis's Woodpecker (Melanerpes lewis) (34)
- Reported Sep 24, 2019 10:10 by dave haupt
- Modoc Rim Hawkwatch, Klamath, Oregon
- Map:

- Checklist: https://ebird.org/view/checklist/S60123958
- Comments: "Near peak/at peak time for southward movement; seen in loose
groups moving south though the station in among Ponderosa Pines.
"Crow-like" appearance in flapping and distant views. Dark with wide wing
base and primaries separated when foraging out like a phoebe. Closer views
the pinkish cast of the breast with some gray upper breast against the
darker wings and head could be seen. This count is likely low as many were
seen at the northern ridge, foraging for insects from snags. Many birds
likely moved down through the area below tree level and away from rim area
and were not detected."
