- Comments: "Continuing. Very far out. Greater than 1/4 mile. Using a
Kowa 95mm with zoom. However, definitely a godwit, and plain grayish
underparts. Then flew closer, saw darkish underwings when it landed.
Flew again and disappeared behind an island. Much later, it was quite a
bit closer. Got pics"

- Comments: "One adult studied at length through a KOWA spotting scope.
Buteo with reddish breast, dark tail with two white bands, dark trailing
edge to the flight feathers. No white crescents in the wings like a
Red-shouldered. It also lacked the patagial marks of a Red-tail. All brown
above. I lost sight of it when reaching for my camera. Appears to be a
first county record. Have seen thousands over the years living in Cape May
but only a handful in Oregon."

darker wings and head could be seen. This count is likely low as many were
seen at the northern ridge, foraging for insects from snags. Many birds
likely moved down through the area below tree level and away from rim area
