Subject: Lincoln's Sparrow, Lancaster County
This morning while walking toward the pond at Chestnut Grove Nature Area, a Lincoln's Sparrow was seen on the edge of the path, and in pokeweed plants eating the berries. Shorebirds were lacking at the edge of the pond, but 2 Green Herons were there.
Later, I stopped at Woods edge park where several "peep" shorebirds and a Pectoral Sandpiper were feeding on the mudflats. The mudflats there are expanding with the dry weather. Yesterday, there were 6 Green-winged Teal on the pond.
