Lots of White-fronts going over SW Portland too. Susan and I counted about 3,000 at 18:30 — and just as Rudi noted, this was likely an undercount because they were very high and just below the clouds, with some disappearing into the clouds at times.
Right now (20:10-20:20) there are many hundreds more going over that I cannot count because it is dark.
From the timing and location, all these birds are certainly different than the birds noted by Rudi and by Tim. So there must be many thousands in the process of going over the region.

I just got in from my run and heard several flocks flying over Mount Scott
in SE Portland. I don't get them here very often.
This evening at about 6:20 I happened to step outside and heard Greater
White-fronted Geese high overhead. Over the next 15 minutes I observed skein
upon skein upon skein pass over going from roughly NE to SW. I estimate the
total to be in excess of 7000 birds. This could be a gross underestimate
because the birds I observed were flying just below the cloud deck, and it
sounded as though significant numbers were flying in or above the clouds. I
also have no way of knowing how many may have passed over before I stepped
outside. I heard still more 45 minutes to an hour later which were not
visible and apparently above the clouds.
