Subject: [VA-bird] Dyke Marsh Wildlife Preserve -- Sep 22, 2019
VA-Birders,Fourteen birders observed 45 species this morning at Dyke Marsh Preserve in Fairfax County. The walk starts at 8 from the Belle Haven picnic area, and is free and open to all sponsored by the Friends of Dyke Marsh. Highlights were 3 warbler species at the South end of the picnic area and a Great Egret struggling to eventually swallow a small Northern Watersnake that at one point had wrapped around its bill. Another keen observation credit to Dick B was of a Gray Catbird vocalizing like a Blue Jay imitating a Red-shouldered Hawk. Complete list follows.Phil Silas, Woodbridge, VA
